AUGUST 2017 – MAY 2018
The Amarillo Hispanic Chamber of Commerce has partnered with West Texas A&M University to offer Business Management and Marketing internship opportunities to students.
Our internship program rewards an intern a $750 scholarship at the beginning of the semester and $500 at the end of the semester. Our goal is to develop the interns in their career by providing work-related experience. The interns are given an opportunity to network and establish relationships with mentors. This year we had the pleasure of having three interns fulfill the spots of the Marketing and Business Management Internship positions. The Marketing intern, Carlos Aguirre, assisted with media announcements, updating our webpage, and creating our weekly newsletter. Carlos also had the opportunity to consult with sales, media and marketing representatives to obtain information on products or services. The Business Management intern, Juan Pinela, was involved on assisting with managing and tracking AHCC memberships, event invoices and finances. Some additional responsibilities included developing trend analysis on membership by month, providing assistance to the Executive Director, and assisting with major event promotions. Juan Pinela was promoted to Administrative Assistant after being an Intern for a year. Pinela graduated WTAMU in May of 2017 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering. In like manner, Carlos Aguirre graduated May of 2017 with an MBA, Management and Marketing degree. During the summer, Andrea Rascon fulfilled the Management internship. Rascon is majoring in Accounting and is expected to graduate May 2019.
AHCC is proud to have opportunities for students to learn, work and grow. We want to thank our members and scholarship sponsors; your great support is what gives the Amarillo Hispanic Chamber of Commerce the opportunity to grow our successful internship program.
