Tammy and Rick are both charged with aiding the business community of the area through expertise in operations and expansion of opportunities. Tammy is a specialist in efficiency and process improvement and can save businesses money through streamlining and smart management. Rick provides new opportunities in that he facilitates the certification of minority and women owned businesses through the State of Texas as Historically Underutilized Businesses (HUB). HUB’s are “first in line service and product” suppliers to all state agencies when they go looking for vendors. HUB businesses have their own directory for state agencies to easily locate them and communicate about upcoming opportunities. Certification is a bit of a process, but Rick Palmer will work with all qualifying businesses to get it completed as quickly as possible. So, if you want to make money running your business better, Tammy will provide some tools and tips on Thursday. If you want more opportunities to be a supplier to a state agency—Rick will show you how HUB certification can work for you.

Salvation Army Lunch With The Homeless Day
May 25 @ 11:30 am – 1:00 pm

National Salvation Army Week is a time for us to thank all of our generous donors, businesses, and volunteers who allow us to accomplish all that we do. We also love to incorporate those we serve. Lunch With The Homeless Day is an opportunity for the community to be a listening ear to a hurting heart in a safe and supervised environment. We are hoping that this will help break down the barriers of the misconceptions that homeless people are of any less value or that they are scary. Homeless people are just like you and I….It’s nice to just talk with someone. $5 will provide your lunch and theirs as well. We will provide the guests. Come give just a bit of your time to help someone get through one more day. This will be an experience you won’t forget.
Tickets can be purchased at 400 S. Harrison St. and the day of the event.

There will be other activities that will occur throughout the week to show our appreciation to other major partners who support The Salvation Army. For more information about The Salvation Army programs, services, or to volunteer please call our main office at (806)373-6631 or visit www.facebook.com/salvationarmyamarillo. Secure donations can be made online at www.salvationarmytexas.org/Amarillo or by calling 1-800-SAL-ARMY(Specify Amarillo).
